Queensland 2 Korea 5

Nampaknya Madtongsan sudah bikin Kimchi sama team kita last Sunday.

Scoreline does not reflect the game though, because the possession stats were pretty even between both teams. Only difference being their ability to convert, helped by a bit of luck.

Minggu ini kami menentang MTS (Madtongsan), nama diambil daripada kedai makan Korean kat Elizabeth Arcade. Also affectionately known as "Park Ji Sung and Friends".

Lots of key players not available today, most of them still in Malaysia. Despite that, we still had enough to make a team. Apit (member Umar) makes his debut to the team, Baloo rejoins the squad again and Apek finally comes back from injury after 8 weeks. Tepuk!!!!!

First Half

After a slow start, game sparked to life when Koreans scored first. A neat attack (and poor marking) created an extra man on the overlap who smashed the ball past Apek, our makeshift keeper for 1st half. The deficit was quickly deleted when Nijam scored the equaliser, following a well-executed move down the left flank by Jo and Haris. Joy was shortlived though, when the Koreans scored again, with the help of a bouncy pitch.

Second Half

Committed more players in search of the equaliser which leaves more gaps at the back. Koreans were quite solid in defence, and had a strong midfield being able to hold possession. We let in the 3rd goal when the right winger drilled a shot from the right edge of the penalty box, ball ending up in the bottom left corner of the goal. Goal number 4 followed soon from the exact same spot. This time, we blocked the shot, but unfortunately the ball was deflected so much that it beat our keeper. Pulled one back when Jo burst from the left, squaring a nice ball which Apit tapped in easily. They had the last say though, when their striker latched on a nicely weighted through ball, and placed it (and the result) beyond reach. Final score, 5-2.

Highlights:

1) Sdr Nijam menjaringkan gol pertamanya untuk QLD.
2) FK Korea yang menggegar tiang kiri.
3) Corner cantik Nijam yang hampir di'connect' oleh Abu's diving header.
4) Abu merembat tepat ke keeper from close range.
5) Nijam merembat kencang 2 kali, kedua2 ditepis keluar oleh keeper Korea.

Standouts:

1) Nijam - Debut goal yang cantik sekali, nice finish. Jamlus no more!!!!!
2) Apit - Debut goal. Bolehkah anda stay untuk MASCA as well? Hehe.
3) Apek - Long-awaited comeback. Back to his usual brilliant, defence splitting self.

Don't worry, kalah takpe. Yang penting kena bangun balik. Get the little things right, and the big things will follow soon after.
