Asian Uni Games - Fantasy futsal announcement!
Hi again guys,
We will be organising a fantasy futsal for Asian Uni Games.
Will be held on Saturday 7/8/2010, 3 - 9 pm at West End Futsal Centre.
That's right, selama ni kita asyik bet kat player negara lain, kali ini kita bet untuk player negara sendiri. Malaysia Boleh!!!
Terima kasih kepada sdr Jo atas idea yang memberangsangkan ini.
Yuran penyertaan ialah AUD$1 (Yup, sama harga dengan rawatan di klinik kerajaan).
Rules:
1) Each person has a transfer budget of $60M
2) Rules are similar to EPL Premier League (therefore no subbing like the World Cup - simple)
3) Can buy 8 players, minimum of 2 girls - I realise futsal normally has 5 people, but I put 8 just for variety.
4) Points system:
a) Playing = 2, Not playing = 0
b) Clean sheet (keeper) = 10 (don't bother about saves, either max or nothing)
c) Clean sheet (defender) = 6
d) Clean sheet (non-defender) = 2
e) Goal (keeper / defender) = 6
f) Goal (non-defender) = 5
g) Yellow card = -1
h) Red card = -3
i) Bonus = 3 (Only if superb performance, nil otherwise)
j) Assist = 3 (Dikira secara the last person to touch the ball before scorer, must be teammate)
k) Own goal = -2
l) Penalty miss = -2
As usual, captain points are doubled.
Winner akan dapat trofi, and claim bragging rights until the next EPL Fantasy League starting in Mid-August.
Once the players are confirmed, I'll put the names and values here so you can pick and register.
Due date would be Friday 6 August 11.59 pm.
Sapa yang first time main and tak sure rules, don't hesitate to ask anyone of us regulars. We're perfectly happy to explain the general stuff. You'd have the advantage though, beginner's luck and all :)

El Salvador: No game this week
Hi guys,
Bye minggu ni. No game. You can have a relaxing Sunday.
Those with dates are encouraged to go out and eat someplace nice. Pergi2, aku dah bagi restu dah.
Those without girlfriends can come to my garage sale and buy something nice. Sabtu 8-12 pm yah?

Fantasy: We have a winner!!!
Akhirnya tamat sudah pertandingan World Cup Fantasy anjuran MASCA QLD.
1) Tahniah kepada saudara Jason Foo, juara keseluruhan liga. (Final score = 597). Congrats!!!
2) Tahniah juga kepada saudara Kiru Murugan kerana memenangi perlawanan akhir World Cup Knockout, dengan menewaskan saudara Azlan Fadzli. (Final score = 72-65).
Piala sudah dibeli, so nanti aku pass kat korang. Thanks to MASCA sebab subsidise some of the costs as well, much appreciated.

MASCA is over. Here are the highlights that we're proud of:
Girl power! Because QLD girls are more than just good looks :)
Netball - Mengakhiri kemarau 7 tahun, apabila menewaskan musuh tradisi NSW. Sumber2 mengatakan mereka menangis kegembiraan, how touching. Well done girls! A very satisfying ending for those who will end their MASCA careers this year.
Futsal - Gold dan Silver??? Now that's coming back with a vengeance! Congrats!
Basketball - Gold = Emas = Aurium. How did they do that? Enough said.
Frisbee is not for the faint-hearted
Whoever says frisbee is a peaceful game played by a bunch of sissies should rethink. The intensity of the game took a lot of people by surprise. It's as exciting as other games really!
Gold! Team2 lain technically lebih gempak, tapi team QLD lebih bertenaga. Mengamalkan classic man-marking dan simple short passes, they were able to stifle the opposition and score from quick counters. Love the word counter-attack.
Overall
2nd overall. This is good! Superb result for a state that punches well above its own weight. You'd assume the New South Welsh and Victorians would normally get 1st and 2nd due to their large pool of talents, but we've proved em wrong. Well done again!
Forgettables
Bola - Gagal melepasi group stage. Did not score enough goals, and also state2 lain pun sama power. Unlucky.
Ragbi - 2nd to NSW, so gagal mengekalkan kejuaraan last year. Don't worry, we'll bounce back.
Futsal - Continues its usual underperformance, bowing out in QFs. Mmm, wonder if we can get some dedicated futsal players around here...
Game lain tak sure (Badminton - harap2 menang, bowling / squash / tennis / ping-pong etc). Please advise. Yang penting, the contingent did really well.
Insyaallah, this will be my last MASCA. Always sad to leave all the memories, but am confident that the new generation of players will do the whole state proud.

NCG - It's time
Hi guys,
Firstly, thanks bebanyak kepada Mango atas ucapan selamatnya. Always appreciate an ex-Queenslander to chip in a few words of encouragement. Masih sayang kau kat kami eh? Hahaha.
Sudah tiba masanya.....
Now is the time to step up, and prevail through this rite of passage.
Guys, from my point of view as a seasoned MASCA campaigner, I'm very happy with how the team's been shaping up. The weekly social comp helped out a lot with organising the defences and developing creativity up front. Midfielders have also started to get a good passing rhythm going. Kekalkan disiplin and always be hungry, insyaallah boleh.
Having said that, team state lain pun power juga. From the 1st MASCA in 2003 till now, I can see that teams get stronger every year. Therefore, anyone can win. Whether is QLD, VIC, NSW, SA or WA. Yang penting, kita mesti fokus on playing our game, support each other and yang paling penting, berani. Get the little things right and the big things will follow.
Selamat berjaya Queensland.

Training
Boyss,
Petang ni kita ada training session 3.30-5.30 pm di Munro. Sila datang sebab kita perlu sambung training basic drill and tactical discussion. Yang injured atau penat ka datang aja. Kasi ramai2 dulu!!
Also, besok malam ada match El Savador Jumaat malam. Jam 7 kalau tidak silap.

Queensland 2 Korea 5
Nampaknya Madtongsan sudah bikin Kimchi sama team kita last Sunday.
Scoreline does not reflect the game though, because the possession stats were pretty even between both teams. Only difference being their ability to convert, helped by a bit of luck.
Minggu ini kami menentang MTS (Madtongsan), nama diambil daripada kedai makan Korean kat Elizabeth Arcade. Also affectionately known as "Park Ji Sung and Friends".
Lots of key players not available today, most of them still in Malaysia. Despite that, we still had enough to make a team. Apit (member Umar) makes his debut to the team, Baloo rejoins the squad again and Apek finally comes back from injury after 8 weeks. Tepuk!!!!!
First Half
After a slow start, game sparked to life when Koreans scored first. A neat attack (and poor marking) created an extra man on the overlap who smashed the ball past Apek, our makeshift keeper for 1st half. The deficit was quickly deleted when Nijam scored the equaliser, following a well-executed move down the left flank by Jo and Haris. Joy was shortlived though, when the Koreans scored again, with the help of a bouncy pitch.
Second Half
Committed more players in search of the equaliser which leaves more gaps at the back. Koreans were quite solid in defence, and had a strong midfield being able to hold possession. We let in the 3rd goal when the right winger drilled a shot from the right edge of the penalty box, ball ending up in the bottom left corner of the goal. Goal number 4 followed soon from the exact same spot. This time, we blocked the shot, but unfortunately the ball was deflected so much that it beat our keeper. Pulled one back when Jo burst from the left, squaring a nice ball which Apit tapped in easily. They had the last say though, when their striker latched on a nicely weighted through ball, and placed it (and the result) beyond reach. Final score, 5-2.
Highlights:
1) Sdr Nijam menjaringkan gol pertamanya untuk QLD.
2) FK Korea yang menggegar tiang kiri.
3) Corner cantik Nijam yang hampir di'connect' oleh Abu's diving header.
4) Abu merembat tepat ke keeper from close range.
5) Nijam merembat kencang 2 kali, kedua2 ditepis keluar oleh keeper Korea.
Standouts:

1) Training - 3-5pm Monday to Thursday (5-8 July) at Munro.
Stays this way unless instructed otherwise.
